Jewish student sues Musk over being labeled a Nazi

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 15:47:06 GMT

By Donie O’Sullivan and Audrey Ash | CNNBen Brody says his life was going fine. He had just finished college, stayed out of trouble, and was prepping for law school. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Elon Musk used his considerable social media clout to amplify an online mob’s misguided rants accusing the 22-year-old from California of being an undercover agent in a neo-Nazi group. The claim, Brody told CNN, was as bizarre as it was baseless. But the fact he bore a vague resemblance to a person allegedly in the group, that he was Jewish, and, that he once stated in a college fraternity profile posted online that he aspired to one day work for the government, was more than enough information for internet trolls to falsely conclude Brody was an undercover government agent (a “Fed”) planted inside the neo-Nazi group to make them look bad.For Brody, the fallout was immediate. Overnight, he became a central character in a story spun by people seeking to deny and downplay the actions of...

The best days to fly around Thanksgiving in 2023 “Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude and celebration, but the holiday is also associated with increased travel and a higher risk of traffic incidents,” said CHP Commissioner Sean Duryee. In 2022, 37 people were killed in car accidents and 1,016 people were arrested for driving under the influence over the four-day period in CHP's jurisdiction, officials said. Additionally, 8,600 citations we...

Seahawks with little time to get healthy, correct issues after loss to Rams

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 15:47:06 GMT

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The starting quarterback got crunched. The starting running back didn’t make it through a quarter. The defense couldn’t get a stop in the fourth quarter and a dozen penalties only added to an overall miserable day for the Seattle Seahawks. As if the 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday wasn’t painful enough for the Seahawks, they have only three days to get healthy and make corrections before facing another divisional matchup on Thanksgiving night. And this one is without question more important, hosting San Francisco with first place in the NFC West at stake.“It’s just really a difficult team to deal with. But teams have figured it out. They have found them out and they were able to get them,” Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. “So we understand that. They’ve got three losses. We got four losses. This is a huge opportunity for us.”The Seahawks (6-4) believe quarterback Geno Smith will be able to play against the 49ers despite a contusion to the triceps on ...

HONOLULU (AP) — Zach Edey scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the first half and No. 2 Purdue rallied to a beat No. 11 Gonzaga 73-63 in a Maui Invitational quarterfinal game on Monday. The Boilermakers (4-0) trailed by as many as nine points late in the first half, but outscored the Bulldogs (2-1) 43-28 in the second half to remain unbeaten.“The start of the second half was key for us, getting some transition baskets, getting some steals, I thought we had some active hands at that time and I think that kind of set the tone for us in the second half. The other difference, I thought, was their inability to make 3s in the second half,” Boilermakers coach Matt Painter said.Edey, a 7-foot-4 senior center, shot 8 for 16 from the field and made 9 of 10 shots from the free throw line. He also grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked three shots in 33 minutes.Lance Jones and Braden Smith added 13 points apiece for Purdue, which shot 54.5% from the field (18 of 33) in the second half.
