Please rescue us.Werneth hopped in his vehicle to assist, driving by Patrick Space Force Base near Cape Canaveral, Florida. From the A1A highway, Werneth said you can see the ocean. What he saw next was a twist of fate that led to a much more urgent kind of rescue.“I could see someone waving in traffic as I was going by. … I pulled in to see what was going on; I had the immediate instinct that something was happening in the water,” Werneth recalled to CNN Travel.“When I came over the berm, I did not realize what I was getting into. There were multiple people in the water.”And they were in trouble. Very serious trouble. Texas parents fret over Winnie the Pooh being used to teach kids about school shootings

DALLAS (AP) — Cindy Campos’ 5-year-old son was so excited about the Winnie the Pooh book he got at school that he asked her to read it with him as soon as he got home. But her heart sank when she realized it was a tutorial about what to do when “danger is near,” advising kids to lock the doors, turn off the lights and quietly hide.As they read the “Stay Safe” book the school sent home without explanation or a warning to parents, she began crying, leaving her son confused.“It’s hard because you’re reading them a bedtime story and basically now you have to explain in this cute way what the book is about, when it’s not exactly cute,” Campos said. She said her first-grader, who goes to the same elementary school as her pre-K son, also got a copy of the book last week. After posting about it in an online neighborhood group, she found other concerned parents whose kids had also brought the book home. The district’s decision to send kids home with the book has made waves. Country singer Tyler Hubbard’s growth expands beyond Florida Georgia Line

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 11:33:18 GMT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Singer-songwriter Tyler Hubbard was fully prepared to hang up his boots so to speak when his duo partner in Florida Georgia Line, Brian Kelley, said he wanted to go solo. The pair had been together more than a decade, and whether you were a fan of their bro country sound or not, their music (“Cruise,” “Meant To Be,” “Round Here”) set the tone for a generation of country fans. Hubbard, who had notched more than a dozen hits as a songwriter for FGL and other artists like Jason Aldean, thought he’d focus on just writing for other artists. “That’s a really big transition in one’s career, 10 years or 12 years, and to say we’re going to pivot right now,” Hubbard said. “I didn’t expect it to come then. And it took me a minute, you know, it really did. But we were also in the middle of a pandemic. And so I didn’t have a choice anyway.”But the COVID-19 pandemic made him realize that his need to perform and record was as strong as ev...

WASHINGTON (AP) — It’s sports Friday at the White House.President Joe Biden was hosting the NCAA championship men’s and women’s basketball teams at separate events. His wife, Jill, planned to join the celebration for Louisiana State’s women’s team. After the Tigers beat Iowa for the title in April in a game the first lady attended, she caused an uproar by suggesting that the Hawkeyes also come to the White House.LSU star Angel Reese called the idea “A JOKE” and said she would prefer to visit with former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, instead. The LSU team largely is Black, while Iowa’s top player, Caitlin Clark, is white, as are most of her teammates.Nothing came of the first lady’s idea and only the Tigers were invited. Reese ultimately said she would not skip the White House visit. “I’m a team player,” Reese said. “I’m going to do what’s best for the team.” Reese and Emily Ward, both team captains, were presenting team jerseys to...
