The San Jose Sharks announced their roster for the upcoming Rookie Faceoff in Las Vegas and the group contains a handful of players who could contend for NHL jobs once the regular season begins next month.William Eklund, the Sharks’ 2021 first-round draft choice who had surgery on his left shoulder on March 30 to repair a torn labrum, is one of the 16 forwards listed as the San Jose team will play games on Sept. 15, 16, and 18.Eklund was promoted to the NHL toward the end of last season and had three points in eight games before he was returned to the AHL in March and injured his shoulder. (KRON) -- A person is dead after being shot by Hayward police Wednesday night, the police department has confirmed. At the time of the shooting, the man was armed with a BB gun, according to the Hayward Police Department's acting chief.The shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. off of City Center Drive.A witness had reported that a man pointed a firearm at two females in a vehicle. Three officers responded and the man allegedly pointed the firearm in the direction of the officers. Two of the officers opened fire on the man, according to Acting Police Chief Bryan Matthews. (KRON) -- A third person was arrested in connection to Tuesday's shooting at Skyline High School, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) said Thursday in a press release. OPD arrested a third minor on Wednesday and recovered a second firearm.The other two suspects -- both minors -- were arrested on the day of the shooting, KRON4 reported. (BCN) -- The second of two suspects in a July homicide in Vallejo was arrested Wednesday, police said. Armando Menendez, 19, was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Grant Street in Vallejo with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, Vallejo police said. On the morning of July 17, officers responded to a distress call regarding a shooting in the 200 block of Mini Drive. Police discovered two gunshot victims, a man and a woman. The man, identified as 18-year-old Zoltan Kent Jr., died from his injuries while the woman survived. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías was arrested after someone saw a physical altercation between a man and a woman outside a Major League Soccer stadium and contacted police, according to the arrest report released Thursday.The report by the Department of Public Safety provided details on Urías’ arrest late Sunday on South Hoover Street outside BMO Stadium in Exposition Park, south of downtown Los Angeles.The report said DPS officers were patrolling outside the stadium after the soccer match in which Lionel Messi played in front of numerous celebrities.
